Ready for some climbing? Getting up to this cache will get your heart going for sure. You'll be going up about 2000', and 3 miles each way. The views are well worth it.
There are various ways of reaching this spot, but the most direct, especially if you're hiking, is to go up the Crescenta View trail. The original trailhead is now closed while they build a park (I think) either side of Dunsmore Canyon. Access is now through a gate at the top of New York Av just on the corner with Markridge Road.
The trail you want doesn't seem to be marked on any maps. A local group of volunteers (NOT the US Forestry Service) have recently restored this trail, which apparently is actually quite old.
Proceed up the trail, follow the second "gun", then left of the pile of stones. If you're then crossing a concrete structure, you're on the right trail.
Your reward for all the work getting to it, is that the cache should be easy to find.
As left, the cache contained:
Monitor cleaning kit
Hide-a-key
Screwdriver
Floppy disc
Subzero badge
Magnetic bookmarker
Phil Collins CD
Mouse mat
Night light
VW keyfob
Assorted pens
The trail is quite exposed, so don't plan to do this in the hottest part of the day, wear good shoes/boots, bring plenty of water, sunscreen etc.
