Greetings from Madeline Island, named after Madeleine Cadotte, daughter of Chief White Crane and wife of fur trader Michael Cadotte. The Ojibwe (Chippewa) and other native peoples made their home here for hundreds of years before European contact.
***OverLOOKing Lake Superior***
The hike along the Point Trail has several excellent stopping spots to view the pristine beauty of Lake Superior. In all seasons, this ever changing view is worth the short hike from “the Point” parking area or take the longer hike near the entrance station of the park. The overlook here will bring you a short distance away from the crowd at “the Point” and give you another picturesque view.
The logbook must be signed, otherwise there is no proof of your success.
