[ITA] PARROCCHIA DELL'ANNUNCIAZIONE
Proseguendo il percorso della strada proveniente da Mergozzo, appena dopo Candoglia si raggiunge la frazione Albo, ove appare su uno sperone roccioso la Chiesa dell’Annunciazione.
Nel corso dei secoli l’edificio è stato protagonista di non poche diatribe per l’autonomia dalla parrocchia di Mergozzo, fino a che non venne riconosciuta separatamente nel 1601. L’anno di fondazione viene fatto risalire al 1132, ma le prime notizie dell'edificio si hanno in un documento del 1262. Successivamente, vari ampliamenti modificarono l’aspetto della chiesa tanto da portarla da una a cinque navate. A ciò fece seguito una riconsacrazione il 12 dicembre 1691 da parte del vescovo Giovan Battista Visconti.
All’interno della chiesa, di notevole fattura è l’altare della Madonna del Santo Rosario, oggi tra i più pregiati del VCO. Tutt'intorno all’affresco centrale sono presenti quindici medaglioni in rame sul quale sono rappresentati i Misteri.
All’esterno, la facciata d’ingresso è preceduta da un pronao in stile barocco, mentre a lato della Chiesa si erge il campanile romanico, un tempo costruito totalmente in marmo di Candoglia, ma successivamente intonacato lasciando così in vista solo degli archetti pensili.

[ENG] PARISH CHURCH OF THE ANNUNCIATION
Continuing along the road coming from Mergozzo, the hamlet Albo is met right after Candoglia. Here, the Church of the Annunciation comes into view on a rocky spur.
Over the centuries, this church has been the protagonist of many disputes over its autonomy from the parish church of Mergozzo, until it was acknowledged separately in 1601. The year of foundation is traced back to 1132, but earliest mentions of the building were found in a document dating back to 1262. Later, various extensions modified the appearance of the church, which changed its plan from one to five naves. This was followed by a reconsecration by the bishop Giovan Battista Visconti on 12th December 1691.
Inside the church, the altar of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary is of commendable craftsmanship and considered among the finest in the province. All around the central fresco, there are fifteen copper medallions on which the Mysteries are represented.
Outside, the façade is preceded by a Baroque pronaos, whereas the Roman bell tower once entirely made of pink marble from Candoglia stands to the side of the church. However, this was later completely plastered, leaving out only the small hanging arches still visible today.
