Welcome to the old parking lot for the SInging Pass hike. If you look around, you can see the remanents of the parking lot that existed roughly twenty years ago, though all that is really left now is an old out house, and a large clear area. Years ago, the trail up to this point was a full fledged road that you could drive on, avoiding the first four km of the hike. Wouldn't that be nice! Due to the constant erosion by the creeks along the trail, the park decided to discontinue maintaining the road, thinking that it would just be easier and more environmentally friendly to hike hikers do that section on foot.
As you walked along that first four km, you were probabably thinking to your self, "There is no way this was a road!" With the massive sink hole, and the countless trenches in the trail, it is hard to see people driving their cars along it. The trail is in such bad shape that it is even difficult for hikers to traverse it. I have no doubt that other than getting this cache and maybe having a bathroom break, you won't stop here for long. I just thought I would share the history of this spot.
The cache is a small green bison tube hanging from a tree on the South side of the trail, very close to the trail sign. There is no need to bush whack or damage plant life to get to the cache, please stay on the trail! Make sure to use stealth like normal when finding and re hiding the cache. Because this is a micro, there is no room for tradables or a pen, so make sure to bring your own! Make sure the cache is securely hanging in the tree, it wouldn't be very good if it spent the winter on the ground. Happy hunting!
