The Old Coach Road III Traditional Cache

Third in a series of caches that tracks the route taken by the Cobb & Co coaches as they journeyed from Wellington to Wanganui in the 1860’s.

Having forded the Otaki River a little upstream from the river-mouth and joining Old Coach Road South at The Old Coach Road II GC62EM3, we veer inland in a wide curve to pass through Otaki township before turning back toward the beach on Old Coach Road North. The cache is located near the end of the public road; a private farm road continues on and eventually rejoins the beach at the mouth of Waitohu Stream. If you are heading from this cache to The Old Coach Road II, return the way you came through Convent Road, then Te Rauparaha Street, Rangiuru Road and ahead into Old Coach Road South.
