We worked here for 2 months in the summer of 2015 and met and joined in with the villagers and village life. whilst there it was unfortunate that one of our hosts, Magnus Kristján Björnsson died as a result of an accident out to sea whilst working on his fishing vessel. To return the warmth we felt from his partner Asa Dora and the village we decided to place this geocache trail in memory.

The main industries in this picturesque village are sea mineral processing and fish farming, while tourism has also been increasing.
Bíldudalur is a community on the outer edge of Bíldudalsvogur cove, along the western side of Arnarfjörður fjord. It is an old trading post that was greatly influenced by several entrepreneurs, for example, Ólafur Thorlacius (1761- 1815) and Pétur J. Thorsteinsson (1854-1929).
