In memory of a great teacher. JA came to Yass High as an English teacher in 1965 and later becoming the careers adviser. Many of those present had been taught by him and recalled a man with unconventional methods who had reached out to students for whom learning was a chore. Certainly there were many who were glad to pile into his car to get to the next league game rather than be confined to a classroom. The dedication of the oval was a reminder of the important links which exist between school and community in a town like Yass. The oval reminds us of how the enthusiasm and dedication of educators can benefit many, the project affirms that working together can achieve good things and the space itself will be enjoyed every day by students who will once again have a dedicated "active play‟ area during lunch hours. an extraction tool may be needed at times
