TIME TO CHILLAX!
Clean out those backpacks and lunch boxes then come to the park for some fun!
An afternoon event welcoming all Geocachers and their families.
From 4pm until at least 6pm.
This afternoon event gives everyone plenty of Geocaching time before the event to grab those caches on the drive into Oxenford and enough daylight after, to grab the ones you missed on the way back home.
The location is Park Lake. Not far from Movie World.
There is car parking along 3 sides of the park. Either along Greenway Bvd in the spaces marked or see the additional way points.
We will be there early to secure a good spot for everyone and to pop up some added shade.
The area is suitable for wheelchairs and prams to gain access to where we will be.
We will supply some afternoon tea to recharge the batteries
There are shops nearby for those wishing to buy their coffee on the way in.
There are BBQs at the park for those wishing to cook themselves an early dinner. We will bring tongs, etc
What we will be doing?
We will be celebrating the end of the 2015 school year and having 6 weeks of no uniforms to find & lunches to make, backpacks & homework to deal with.
The geokids can enjoy some bubble blowing fun!
A couple of games throughout the afternoon with prizes thanks to QLDMEGA.
Cache container swapping – bring any spare containers for swapping or giving away.
For those of you needing ready to go containers, there will be an opportunity to see a great selection of Christmas gift ideas or gifts for any day ending in “y” with All Things Geo in attendance.
You can bring your Geocoin or Trackable collection to show people.
Collectable item swapping is also bound to occur as always.
Trackamorph will make an appearance and is able to be logged by anyone willing to have their photo snapped with it.
There will be a group photo at 5pm
The playground is lots of fun and is well away from the road. (see photos)
Lots of stories and general chatter about all things Geocaching.
We will have a few "Lucky Attendance" prizes!
We will have "The Last Lolly" morale box! This is a box full of lollies that is shared during the event, whoever eats "the last lolly" is allowed to keep the container and hide it as a cache anywhere they like!
Park Lake is dog-on-a-lead-friendly, just be sure to keep them under control.
How far is it?
1 hour, 20 min South East from Ipswich.
40 min South from Brisbane Airport.
1 hour North of Coolangatta Airport.
The park is 5 minutes west of the Helensvale Town Centre and Train station.
There are a few ways to come, so plan your trip to make the most of the geocaches along the way!
(This doesn't count for all the times you stop for a geocache along the way.)
What do you need to bring?
Water – it will be hot at this time of year so stay hydrated.
Smiles and a hat - There is a lot of shade over the playgrounds.
Chairs or Picnic Rugs.
A plate of food if you wish to add it to the table for sharing.
A Camera is a good idea!
Trackables to drop off, we will set up a table for this.
Pen to log the nearby geocaches with and swaps if you need them.
Bring a friend! Everyone is welcome,
If they are not players of our game yet we can help you to welcome them to our hobby!
There will be people of all ages and geocaching abilities here, some with just a few precious finds and others with lots who are always happy to tell a few stories and slip out a few hints.
