As we hike the Sooke Hills we see many venerable giants. They are all memorable, but some seem to have more distinct character than others. This ancient Ent whispered to us as we passed, and we felt compelled to pay more than our usual respects to his unique wisdom of the woods. Pause for a moment as you pass, and if you listen carefully you too may hear his sigh. You will recognize him by the stance that lends him his name. Whether by the continued assault of northerly gales, or by the simple weight of a century's strain to the sky, his heavily scaled sides are well on their weary way to the earth from which his ancestors sprang millennia past.
