Geocache Description:

Hi Point Lookout Tower @ 6140 or so altitude on the Palomar Divide Truck Trail

Stopped by the Cache again on January 4, 2025 at sunset with the Crack of Dawn. Left some little ducks and placed a travel bug from Phil's Memorial Cache GC5B. Bug # I stopped by the cache Sept. 4, 2005 to check on this very popular location. Did a little housekeeping and took a painted lizard that I found buried in with the cache explanation. Thanks to the cacher who replaced the Tupperware with the ammo can. It's a good drive up the Palomar Divide Truck Trail. Take Hiway 79 to the Palomar Truck Trail northwest of Warner Springs and turn west and take the forest service road up to the lookout tower which can be seen on a clear day. It is a narrow paved road for a third of the way and DG the rest and should only be attempted in a high clearance vehicle. We planted this in a full on blizzard at the top of the mountain and rain all the way down and it was pucker up time in a few spots. Take a 4 wheel drive in inclement weather. There is a good map in our "Afoot and Afield in San Diego County" 1986 edition at Area M-3:Oak Grove/Barker Valley. Park at the gate to the lookout tower, N. 33, 22.897, W. 116, 50.306 and take the gradual hike up to the tower and enjoy the view. The cache container is jammed packed with goodies.
