To get to this nano cache, head on Canyon Drive towards the BC Hydro Bennett Dam. Once through Security Gates, take the first left onto the Ski Hill Road, travel up the hill and take the first dirt road on your right. Follow this narrow road for 2.5 km until you are under the Hydro transmission Right of Way (you pass over a cattle gaurd to get onto the ROW). Turn left onto the service road under the transmission where you will cross a culvert and drive another 1km through a metal gate by a pond, head up the hill and you will see a large sign for the Steam Vents. There you can park your vehicle, or access most of the trail by ATV. The trail is about 1.5 km one way and the total trip takes about 2 1/2 hours from the Security Gates. You can ATV for most of the trail, at the turnaround for the ATVs you will have to dismount and walk a short distance to get to the steam vents. The trail to the steam vents is steep and narrow, be cautious as the grass around the steam vents can be slippery.
The Steam Vents were noted by Alexander Mackenzie in 1793 in his journal when he travelled on the Peace River. It is believed to be a coal seam that is burning underground.
