Geocache Description:

This geocache is part of a series placed in celebration of Brunswick's Bicentennial (1815-2015).

We hope that you enjoy this series, and are able to visit some of the locations around town that make our community special.

North Park is Brunswick's largest community park.  It has much to offer its visitors, including miles of walking/hiking trails, a playground for the kids, a pavilion where you can enjoy a picnic, and a 5-acre lake for fishing.  (No fishing license is required.).  In wintertime, bring your sled--  there's a nice hill for sledding!

North Park is home to a variety of birds and waterfowl, as well as deer and other wildlife.  Watch carefully for them as you walk around the lake and through the woods to find this geocache/letterbox!

Park hours are from sunrise to sunset.  Absolutely NO night caching!

This hike will take you deep into the woods.  Round trip distance from the parking lot is approximately 1-1/2 miles.  Trails will be muddy at certain times of year or if there have been recent rains, so please wear appropriate footwear.  Bug spray might also be a good idea!

There is a rubber stamp inside this container.  IT IS NOT SWAG!  Please do not take it!  Letterboxers, please bring your own ink.  There is no ink pad in the container.  Please bring a pen with you to sign the log.

The posted coordinates will take you to the parking area for North Park. There is no geocache/letterbox at this location. You must find this letterbox/geocache by following the instructions below:

* Following the paved path, walk north toward the lake. Turn right when you get to the walking trail.

* Continue on the paved walking trail, going over the bridge and around the east side of the lake until you see a gravel path.

* Follow the gravel path around the sledding hill until just before entering the woods you see a wooden post.

* Take the trail to your left to enter the woods.

* You will cross a small bridge. Turn right when you reach the fork in the trail.

* Continue along the path. You will pass a trail that branches off to the left, then one that branches off to the right. You will also pass a vernal pool (a temporary pool of water that fills up with water in the spring and dries up by mid- to late summer.)

* There is a clearing ahead of you. (Look for deer here. From this point until you reach the area of the hide, you are likely to see at least one, if you are watching carefully!)

* Turn left and take the winding path through the woods.

* You will soon reach an area where there are many fallen trees and branches to your left. You're getting close!

* A short distance away you will see a giant fallen tree that is next to a huge tree stump that is right next to the trail on your right. That's where you'll find the letterbox/geocache!

* After signing the log, swapping some SWAG, and stamping your letterboxing book (if you have one), you may return to the starting point.

* Before you leave, please camouflage the geocache with natural material so that it is not visible from the trail.

* Turn back and retrace your steps on the trail until you reach a fork in the path. Turn right.

* You will again pass the vernal pool, the trail on the left, the trail on the right, and will approach a clearing ahead of you. Continue on the trail as it curves to the left.

* Turn right when the trail intersects another. Stay on the path until you reach the paved trail that surrounds the lake. Turn right to return to the parking lot.
