We recently visited the North Rim and were disappointed at the lack of caches in the area, so we decided to add a few of our own for fellow geocachers visiting the area. This is a traditional cache, the other two we placed are virtual caches.
Point Imperial is another spectacular place from which to view the canyon. And it is also the trailhead to this cache. The cache is an ammo box located 2 miles up a trail north from the Point Imperial parking area. The trailhead is marked and takes off from the back of the parking area (opposite the point).
We had to have at least one real cache up here, but the rule against leaving one in the park was a problem. The cache is therefore located up this well used trail (which goes to Saddle Mountain T/H) and is about thirty feet outside the northern boundary fence for the park. There is a gate for hikers to enter and exit the park.
