Geocache Description:

This is a series of caches at or nearby sites that my geodog, Redtail, visited as a certified therapy dog.  Redtail is my golden retriever who loves to geocache with me.  He’s got a nose for a cache and knows when to sit and stay while I sign the log.  He is exceptionally sweet and kind.  When he was a puppy Mr. Redtail2000 and I promised that we would get him certified as a therapy dog.  Admittedly, he had to take Canine Good Citizenship twice because during the final exam he jumped on the instructor… but only because he loved her so much.  Those goldens sure do love to be a puppy!  Finally at the mature age of eight, he’s made the ranks as a therapy dog certified by the Southwest Canine Corps of Volunteers.  Now I get to share with you some of the more poignant events that occurred during our visits.  Please always be mindful and respectful of your surroundings when caching at these sites.

Redtail and I haven’t gone to St. Catherine often because it is a bit out of the way for us, however, when we did visit there we made a difference.  I recall a woman who was in a physical therapy session who burst out crying when she remembered how much she missed her dogs while visiting with Redtail.  There was a gentleman on the Alzheimer’s unit who was enamored by Redtail and wanted to follow us around during the entire visit.  And I’ll never forget when we were on our way out, we met a woman in the front lobby who didn’t want to pet Redtail because it was “much too close to lunchtime” and didn’t want to have to wash her hands again.  It was when I stopped to talk with her that she then started to cry and thanked me for stopping.  She said that she was so lonely without her family coming to visit and had felt as though they just dumped her off and had deserted her.  Yea, you know it was tough to leave after that!

This was a tricky hide because I got locked by other caches in the area so after trying to find a good hiding place for an hour I finally decided to do a multi cache.  The coordinates will take you to a sign.  From here you can use the following hints to figure out the final stage coordinates:

N    35   A.BCD
W  106 EF.GHI

A=Add together the first and last numbers of the address at the posted coordinates.
B=How many digits are in the address?
C=G-minus the second digit in the address
D=How many directions are implied in the Zia symbol?
E=What is the last number in the address?
F=Add together the last three numbers in the address and then subtract the first and second numbers.
G=How many letters are in the woman's or Saint's name the facility is named after? This facility has since changed it's name so at that time of placing this cache it was St. Catherine's...
H=Add together the first three digits of the address at the posted coordinates.
I=Add together the first two numbers in the address.

Cache on…
