Jerry Geocacher Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

MAPAsearching: This is the third time mugglers tore this one up. Took it all away from the site. It worked good in winter when the teams and lots of kids weren't around. I will be putting something together for the site and install it later this summer. way too many people here in spring and summer. Have fun caching!

Geocache Description:

The cache is located at a quiet spot within the park that is just starting to get overgrown. The park is open from daylight to 10 PM daily. A game trail leads you down to a ledge of land that is a wonderful spot to get away from the crowds at the ball fields. It has been noisier here since the go cart track was built over the hill. In the near future the park will have many miles of hiking and biking trails, thanks to a government grant to the city.

Jerry Geocacher is a cache I have wanted to do for a long time. Jerry is a fictional character I met awhile back while hiking in the woods. He was one gung-ho cacher that went out every chance he could. He was a stone mason by trade and knew all about safety at work. He spent a good part of his day laying stone while standing on scaffolding and wearing his fall protection. One day he headed out to find a new cache after work. He failed to read about the cache before leaving work and should have taken his cache buddy and his safety ropes. The cache was located high up a huge standing dead tree and he didn’t think twice about scaling the limbs by himself without ropes. This story reminds me of GC2TX8J, Wrap your legs around this. Well, Jerry ended up falling from that huge standing dead tree when he stood on a dead limb that broke. When he didn’t show up for work the next day it was obvious to his cache buddy that he went after the latest new cache that was posted on line. His friend found him laying on the ground at the site, called the local scoop and run ambulance and had him taken to the hospital. Jerry’s lunch box and a few of his personal belongings were left behind by his buddy as swag trade material for future cachers. Jerry’s buddy made a safer cache located at ground level on the site and cut down that big old tree.

The morale of the story is to not attempt a dangerous cache by yourself. Take a cache buddy. Don’t place a cache in a dangerous area that might cause harm to others.  Remember to always carry your safety gear when going after a cache with a higher skill rating. Enjoy the area and the rest of the park. Have fun caching and be safe!

Congratulations to Ronle2003 and The Geo-Bugs for first to find!
