Headford is a small but perfectly formed town, situated in the north of county Galway. It supports all the essentials of any Irish town. It has a church – St Mary’s, numerous pubs catering for a varied clientele, local shops and a bank. Headford also has a number of National Schools which feeds into Presentation College Headford.

The town and local area has several points of interest, as you arrive in Headford the brown Welcome signs states ‘Gateway to the Corrib’. Lough Corrib is approximately 6.5km west of the town; it is Ireland’s second largest lough, and is renowned by anglers for its fishing. The area has a long and diverse history, which is evident by its many ruins. The most famous is Ross Errily a friary founded in 1351, which is now described as the best preserved monastic ruin in Ireland.
