This cache, #2 in a series of 6, is located at a monument created in honor of a local woman who had a deep love for dogs. Story has it that she used to hike up into these canyons to care for & feed a stray dog that never would tame. Some time later the dog was shot by someone. The dog is now buried at a site here, with a very unique shrine & bench built next to it for this woman and any travelers through to enjoy. It is quite a sight.
Cache container is on the grounds of this shrine site, but is not on the shrine itself. Contains log, pencil, swag & FTF award. I am attaching photo of the shrine itself for future geocachers to see with the cache's description. This is a very interesting location and well worth the short hike.
