This is one of a series of caches in tribute to one of the longest running songwriting duos ever. Elton John and Bernie Taupin have been creating music for parts of six decades now. One of the first dates with my now wife was an Elton John concert. And one of the things that I have recently knocked off my bucket list was a visit to Las Vegas to see Elton in his Million Dollar Piano show at Caesar's Palace. Elton no longer performs there, and now has embarked on his three year touring finale before retiring from the road.
I thought that using the studio albums as cache names would provide good variety in this series.
This is the thirtieth studio album recorded and released by Elton John in October of 2010. It is a collaboration studio album by Elton and Leon Russell. It is Russell's 34th studio album. This is the first studio release by John since 1979's Victim Of Love without any of his regular band members. The album was No. 3 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 30 Best Albums of 2010. The album features appearances by Neil Young and Brian WIlson contributing vocals. This album was dedicated to Guy Babylon, John's keyboard player who died a year before its release. The song Hey Ahab was performed live by Elton and Leon when Elton hosted and was the musical guest on Saturday Night Live. This album can only be appreciated for what it is: two aging veteran singers who sound really good together.
