Byrnes Mill Park is the site of the historic Byrne's Mill founded by Patrick C. Byrne (1820 - 1891). What remains are remants of the rock wall entry and some of the mill's structure. Patrick and his father, James, were Irish immigrants who landed in America in 1849. They moved to the St Louis area a year later. Patrick Byrnes was a very hard working and sucessful man. In addition to owning the mill and other businesses in the area, he served as district accessor, as a justice of the peace and was elected Associate Judge of the County Court from the first district 1882 - 1884.
