After a pleasant walk alongside the Kakahu River you reach an open area where English trees were planted around 1900 as part of a plan to establish a sanatorium for TB patients. Now a perfect place for a geocache! Bring your own pen.
Kakahu Bush is a 365-ha area protected under the QE II Trust. It has a diverse range of geological, botanical and historical features. It is part owned and managed by the South Canterbury Conservation Trust, the other part is managed by DoC.
