[ITA] Una curiosa iscrizione sul basamento del cippo dedicato all'irredentista Cesare Battisti (sulla cui storia si veda la cache GC64W13, ora archiviata), ci segnala che il blocco di pietra proviene da Monte Corno, altrimenti noto come Corno Battisti. Questa montagna, alta 1778 m, è una cima del massiccio del Pasubio, nel gruppo delle Prealpi vicentine, pur trovandosi amministrativamente in territorio trentino. Si tratta di una cima scabra e piuttosto imponente, che spicca nel paesaggio circostante; la sua importanza alpinistica non è particolare, mentre la rilevanza storica è data dal fatto che qui venne fatto prigioniero Cesare Battisti il 10 luglio 1916.
[ENG] A curious inscription on the basement of the memorial dedicated to Cesare Battisti (whose story is told in cache GC64W13, now archived), indicates that the the stone comes from Monte Corno (Horn), otherwise known as Corno Battisti. This mountain, 1,778 meters high, is located in the Pasubio Massif, in the Vicenza Prealps, 300 km East of Torino. It is a rough and quite impressive mountain, standing out in the surrounding and known because there Cesare Battisti was taken prisoner on July 10, 1916.
[ITA] La roccia che supporta il monumento permette di fare alcune considerazioni sulla geologia delle Prealpi vicentine, caratterizzata da rocce sedimentarie molto differenti da quelle piemontesi.
Il blocco principale costituente il monumento, parzialmente lavorato e lasciato alla sua forma naturale nella porzione inferiore è costituito da Biancone: si tratta di una roccia calcarea a grana finissima, di evidente origine sedimentaria; sono infatti ben visibili le stratificazioni, molto regolari e spesso intercalate da veli argillosi grigio-verdastri. La roccia è fossilifera: sono facilmente visibili ammoniti, fossili dalla caratteristica conchiglia a spirale. Il basamento è invece stato realizzato in Pietra della Lessinia o Prun, altro calcare dalla caratteristica colorazione rosata appartenente alla formazione della Scaglia Rossa basale; anch'essa è fossilifera.
[ENG] The rock supporting the monument allows for some considerations on the geology in the Vicenza Prealps, characterized by sedimentary rocks very different from those of the Piemonte region.
The main block used to build the monument, partially shaped as a column and partly left to its natural form is made of Biancone: this is a fine-grained limestone rock, of an evident sedimentary origin; strata are in fact clearly visible, very regular and often interspaced with gray-greenish clay veils. The rock is fossiliferous: ammonites, fossils from the characteristic spiral shell are often visible in it.
The monument base has instead been made out of Lessinia stone, also known as Prun. This is another limestone with a characteristic pink color, belonging to the formation of basal Scaglia Rossa; also this rock is fossiliferous.

A. With respect to Battisti's face, where is the text "From Monte Corno - The Trento section" located? And where a trace of ammonite can be easily seen? Can you notice other ammonites on the monument?
B. In your opinion, are the layers of the white rock sustaining the bronze head positioned coherently with their original natural disposition?
C. A QR code on the monument's side will give you access to two webpages in which this block of stone is described in a wrong way. Explain in your own words what this error is.
