It is estimated that there are almost 70 000 jacarandas growing around the many streets, parks and gardens of Pretoria. Pretoria's magnificent tree-lined streets come alive when the jacarandas are in bloom. Their elegant branches are covered in purple clouds of flowers and the fallen blooms create a delicate lavender coloured carpet better than any of the artificial red ones in Hollywood.
A much rarer sight however is a white jacaranda and this street is one of the few places where you can see a profusion of white jacaranda trees in Pretoria. The whole length of Herbert Baker Street is lined with a row of almost one hundred white jacarandas, as well as a few purple ones here and there too. The striking white beauty of these unusual jacarandas is truly something special.
While you are here, we recommend that you take the time to drive along the whole street. The best time of year to see the white jacarandas in bloom is from late September to early November.
The cache is a camouflaged PET and should be a quick park and grab. As with most urban caches, stealth will be required.
