This geocache was placed to bring you to a historically significant location. St. John's United Chirch was founded in 1839 before Canada's confederation. The Rev. Egerton Ryerson sparked a "great spiritual revival" in Williamsburg (Glen Williams) in 1840, and here in Georgetown the following year. George Kennedy, whose family founded Georgetown, was on the building committee which raised $8000 and built the brick building on Guelph Street in 1880.
Be sure to check out the cool survey marker near the parking lot entrance. It was placed here when the land was identified for the church 175 years ago.
