Geocache Description:

This cache, one of the oldest in Michigan, is located just off the old right of way of Lindley Road, which formerly ran between Werkner Road and M-52. During the 1930's and 1940's, marginal farms along the road were abandoned and were acquired by the state to be added to the new Pinckney State Recreation Area. As recently as the early 1970's, Lindley Rd. was still a public road as far west as about this point, but the abandoned right of way west of here to M-52 was open to access, and I was able to carefully drive it in an ordinary compact car. In the subsequent years, its closure has allowed nature to reclaim what is hers.

I suggest parking at the west end of Lindley Road off Werkner Road, about a half mile from the cache. Terrain is easy until the last 75 feet or so, which is fairly steep and will be covered with some brambles.

The adventurous may want to try the hike from M-52 opposite Green Lake. This is over a mile along the well overgrown old road.

The site itself overlooks Island Lake, although foliage will obscure this during the summer.

The new (5/9/18) cache container is a .30 cal. olive drab metal ammo box. Please sign the log book and feel free to exchange trinkets or leave a travel bug. I hope you'll post a photo or two of your visit on the web log.

There are a fair number of likely hiding places in a 100 foot radius around the actual one. You may want to read the cryptic message for an additional hint.
