Please join me on Veterans Day this year for a military tradition known as NCO Call (Non-Commissioned Officer). Stop by and have a cup of coffee and a bite to eat with the Geocachers that are Veterans and enjoy an age old military tradition.
NCO Call is a way for the Senior NCO’s to pass on traditions, values, build camaraderie and pay homage to those that have lead the way and gone before. It allows the Junior NCO’s to learn from the Senior NCO’s. There are stories told, laughs are shared, and their is toasting. Most of all, it builds a sense of family. The Marine Corps calls it Mess Night.
This is a chance to spend time with some of the Veterans that you see at the many events as well as on the trail. Veterans normally stand a little taller and have a certain look. When you talk with them there is a sense that something is different. They are quiet and soft spoken. They don’t talk much about their service. When they are around other Veterans you can see a subtle change in them.
These are the men and women that made it possible for us to enjoy our way of life. Without them all of this would not be possible. If you are a Veteran I would like to encourage you to wear your uniform if you still have it. And as always we'll talk caching, eat, do nearby caches, eat, talk, and enjoy each others company.
As with most of the other coffee events people usually start arriving any time after 1730 hours.
The event will be at the Panera Bread in the Avon Commons.
