Cache Details
This is our prototype cache designed to try out a concept, and we're pretty excited that it works! We're hoping to make some more sophisticated ones in the future. We've filled this one with some fun trinkets, and something special for the FTF.
While you're here, take a minute to check out the former tram substation at #21. It was constructed in 1954 and once powered the trams and later trolley buses that ran down Beaufort Street. Three late-Victorian terrace houses are located next door, and are among Vincent Street's oldest residences.
Technical Tips
1. Gently does it. No need pull or push hard at it, take it apart, or use force of any kind.
2. It's not doing anything? If you're confident you're doing the right thing (and have read the hint) but are not hearing a click, see if you can press the lid more snugly into place before trying again - if the lid isn't flush, the mechanism may jam.
3. Remember that the tool needs to be in contact with the right points to retract the locking pin and hold it open - keep the tool there while opening and closing the lid (this can be done by one person, but is even easier with two).
4. Notice any damage or technical issues? Do let us know so we can fix them! It was a fiddly little cache to construct, and we're still learning.
Inspired by the excellent roymerc. If you want to see the same concept (and far more elaborate ones!) executed by a master geocache-maker, take a drive down to Denmark and check out his work. He's amazing.
