Hard Sulphur Traditional Cache

A Conservation Week 2015 Geocache placed by the Department of Conservation to encourage people to enjoy healthy nature, healthy people.

Sulphur Bay is home to the world's most threatened gull species - the black billed gull. Populations of these birds have plumetted and are expected to continue declining. These ground-nesting birds are easy to confuse with other gull species but are less likey to scavenge like thier relatives the black blacked gull.

The Nature Heritage Trail is a great way to enjoy the refuge. Stick to the tracks to avoid the dangers of bring in a geothermal area and also to prevent adversely affecting ground nesting birds like the black billed gull.

Feel free to take a rubbish bag. A clean up is planned as another Conservation Week 2015 event.

The cache is a transparent, round container that previously housed mozarella cheese. You do not need to get wet feet to find this cache.
