Geocache Description:

Merlin's Meander is a continuation of the Beehive Beck Trio. It follows a route much loved by my old black lab, Merlin. We could wander out from home and hardly meet a single vehicle as we followed this route over fields and along quiet country lanes with grass growing along the middle. There are several becks along the way where a thirsty dog can drink, and plenty of interesting smells and sights. Think of him as you follow in his paw prints!

From Beehive Beck Trio no.3-  Teddy's Perch, continue along the lane to the east. When the hedge is in leaf see how many tree species you can identify within it. We made it 20! According to botanists, the age of a hedge can be estimated from the number of species present, and this would make the origins of this hedge around 2000 years ago! There is an unfortunate infestation of Himalayan Balsam developing, if you recognise it do pull it up, as it smothers the native wild flowers.

If you look to the south you can see Farleton Knot in the distance, and this wide valley has some fine old oak trees.

As you approach GZ you will see and hear the beck tinkling down the valley past a small triangular woodland. There is a mature oak here and have a look for acorns as you seek the cache! The cache is really a nano and fairly well concealed. You do not need to move anything or dig about, just look closely! Bring your own pen.
