Welcome to Mill Hill Park and Dead Horse Valley. A popular place to walk dogs and play dodgeball in warm months, and the most popular place to go sledding, snowboarding, and skiing on Nantucket island.
Why is it called Dead Horse Valley: The area is rumored to have been the place where dead horses were buried on Nantucket back in colonial times. However, there is no solid proof to this rumor. What is known about the place is that it's been active as a place of business since at least 1746, when the first known windmill was built near there. This is mentioned in several books on the history of the island, and its veracity can be seen today in the names of the streets leading to the valley (such as Mill Street and Mill Hill Lane).

More about this cache: This geocache used to be stage 1 of my Cardio Cache, GC5Q2HQ, but alas the removal of some park signage made the cache less fun so I retired the multicache and turned it into two separate caches. This geocache is not very stroller friendly and the cache is hidden several feet off the path and not on the ground. Please use stealth when people are in the area.
This geocache is located next to a number of Poke'stops and gyms.
