This is one of four caches placed by the 67th Winnipeg Scout Troop one rainy October night as we hiked the limestone trail winding through the FortWhyte Alive forest habitat. The night was so cloudy, and the nearby city lights so bright, that it was easy to see our cache locations well after sunset. In fact, the "city glow" lit up the yellow leaves trembling on the aspen trees in a way rarely seen.
FortWhyte Alive is an environmental, education and recreation center in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The large park and recreation facility is located in southwest Winnipeg along the migratory path of Canada geese. This cache can be found near FortWhyte Alive's Green Corridor Trail, a part of the Trans Canada Trail.
Operating in the south-central Winnipeg, the 67th Winnipeg Scout Group offers challenging outdoor-oriented programs for boys, girls and youth age 5-26. The original scouting section, Scouts is for girls and boys, 11 to 14 years of age. 67th Winnipeg Scouts develop responsibility and leadership skills through their motto of "be prepared."
