The Legend of Cry Baby Bridge:
Many years ago, when this bridge wasn't nearly as modern as it is now, there was a young girl in love with her boyfriend. One day, he convinced her to take their relationship to the next level, telling her how deeply he loved her. A few weeks later she realized she was pregnant. She decided it was best to hide it from her boyfriend. When she started to show, she avoided the boyfriend but they continued to keep in close contact through phone calls and letters. He often assured her that they would one day be together forever.
When her father realized that she was pregnant out of wedlock, he became furious and kicked her out of the house. She stayed with another family until the child, a little girl, was born. A few weeks after the birth, she decided to carry the child to her boyfriend's house to present her to him as his. He lived on a small farm in this area and she had to pass over this bridge to get to his house. As she opened the door, she walked in on him with another woman. Filled with anger, she fled the scene in a frenzy. She could not return home unmarried and she felt she had lost her only love because of this one child. As she looked at her baby, she was only reminded of her boyfriend and the image of him with the other girl.
When she reached the bridge, in a moment of rage, she tossed the child over the rail and into the water to drown. Realizing what she had done, full of grief and remorse, she ran to her father's house and hung herself in the barn. It is now said, if you stand on this bridge, exactly at midnight, you can hear the wail of the drowning infant. Sometimes, you can even see the pale image of the girl walking the bridge, the noose still around her neck.
