Dingo Beach Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Albany Canucks: Sadly, it looks like this cache has gone the way of the dodo, and I'm not in a position to replace it. It's a wonderful area, so hopefully another local geocacher will take the opportunity to place a geocache here somewhere, to help bring people to the amazing view over Dingo's Beach.

Geocache Description:

A lookout overlooking a stunning turquoise beach with squeaky white sand.

Dingo Beach is a delightful beach just south of Cosy Corner and Forsyth Bluff, and just north of West Cape Howe National Park. It's not as accessible as some of the other beaches in the area, and it is not well-advertised, so not many tourists typically find their way here. As a result it has more of a pristine feel, and has a real sense of unspoiled natural beauty. It's one of those secret treasures that locals know about and love, and if you've never been here before, hopefully this cache will give you reason to visit and discover this wonderful spot.

To get here, from Lower Denmark Rd take Cosy Corner Rd, then turn right onto Coombes Rd, then take the first gravel road left (currently unsigned, some maps list it as Torbay Rd, others as Edinburgh Rd), then after about 300m turn left onto another gravel road (unsigned, but listed on maps as Stuart Island Rd), which you follow for about 500m to a parking area above Hartman's Beach. This is where you'll find signs for the Bibbulmun track and where you should park (I've listed this trailhead a waypoint). From here it's just a 20 minute walk along the Bibbulmun track. If you don't mind hiking an extra kilometer, you can start your walk at the Cosy Corner parking lot. Alternatively, if you have a 4WD, this cache is practically a drive-by when you take the 4WD track to Dingo Beach.

If it's a warm and sunny day, after finding the cache you might want to head down the beach itself - it's nearly 1km in length, with squeaky white sand, turquoise waters, and is a great place for 4WDing, fishing, and swimming.

Cache is a clear plastic 1L sistema container. We have deliberately made it fairly easy to find (see the hint for an obvious clue), because this cache is all about the location, and we placed it here to share another jewel of the rainbow coast, and to help bring other geocachers here to enjoy this wonderful spot.
