CCP-1 ... Watch The Birdies. Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Etiveman: Just a heads up for anyone planning on finding this series in the near future.

It is my intention to archive this entire series as I make way for a new series of 10 mystery caches along this trail. At present, I don't have a panned date, but the new series should be in place by March 2019.

Many thanks to one and all who have visited and even helped keep this series in good order ... I hope you will enjoy the new series just as much.

CCP-1 to 12

Craighall Circular Path is a really pleasant wander along the tree lined old A93 route north from Blairgowrie towards Bridge of Cally with ample car parking room either at the Craighall Bridge end (nearest Blairgowrie) or 1½ miles further up the A93 where the route crosses the main road.

The full, 2½ to 2¾ mile circular route will have you wandering along admiring the snippets of scenery you may see through the trees, and once you get a little away from the car parking area, the route becomes extremely tranquil with only the sounds of nature to disturb you. The second half of the route is through open farm land and there are some excellent views up and down the valley.

When you reach the top end of the track, you will have to cross the busy A93. I must advise extreme caution here, especially if you have children or animals with you, as the traffic can be heavy and FAST.

After crossing the road you will be following a hard surfaced, though slightly rough, farm track. At this point, the track is still very wheelchair and buggy friendly, but near the end it doesn’t remain that way, There are two possible exits (or starting points) along this part of the route which are right on the edge of the main road (A93) but as they are also farm entrances, parking will not be easy and I really wouldn’t advocate walking along the A93 back to your car.

Shortly after passing the 2nd of these exits the path turns off the farm road by means of a small wooden gate and after that the path becomes very overgrown with grass and some thistles. After passing through 2 more small wooden gates, the path then leads you down a fairly steep banking onto the side of the main road. From this point you will have to walk about 300 yards along a very wide grass verge on the edge of the main road, then cross over to the car parking.
