Geocache Description:

The B.G. Parks mandate for the geocaches at Wintergarden Preserve is to bring people here to visit our wonderful city resource, keep the social trails to a minimum, and to provide opportunities for families to interact with nature.  To this end, we replace the caches each October with fresh ones.

When we were removing the 2014 caches, we were discussing what theme this year’s caches would be.  I prefer something more whimsical rather than bird or tree or snake names (but snake names might be cool).  That evening we went and saw The Martian and loved it.  The next day I saw a trailer for the new Star Wars movie… Ah-Ha! A theme emerges.  Soooo….

WALL-E is part of the Pixar digital animation library.  The title character is the last working trash compactor robot on a future Earth that has been trashed by overconsumption.  The humans have been evacuated to floating Starliners for meny generations, growing obese and lazy.  WALL-E has doscovered a growing plant, and tends to it in his collection of curiosities.  When EVE, another robot, is deployed to Earth to see if it is habitable, she finds WALL-E and his plant, and both robots get returned to the starliner.  On board, they must outsmart Auto, the ship's autopilot program, which the captain leaves mostly in charge.  A love story between robots.  Who knew?
