Bizim sokağımızda bulunan sadece bir apartmandan 65 ceset çıkarıldı. Ağustos sıcağının da etkisiyle daha ikinci gün şehri ceset kokusu kaplamıştı. Bir sürü arkadaşımız ve tanıdığımızı kaybettik. Luckily, I was not in Adapazarı during this earthquake. Even though I lived the 7,2 intense Düzce earthquake, I cannot imagine to this day how strong the earthquake was. Just to give an idea, on the next day of the earthquake, when we visited our house, we saw the bloody handprints of my 1,6m mother on our 2,5m ceiling. Thousands of people died. In our street, from only one building, 65 corpses were brought out of the ruins. And with the effect of August heat, on the second day the whole city was filled with the smell of corpses. We lost a lot of friends and acquintances. I wish we could learn our lessons from this bitter experience...
