Geocache Description:

This cache is part of a series of caches which are placed at or near village halls and community centres. This is a series which other cachers can add to and expand into other geographical areas. See the bookmark list for all the caches in the series. http://www.geocaching.com/bookmarks/view.aspx?guid=eed285bb-6947-4090-bc17-591e0561b8f7

Bentley village is located just off the A31 road between Farnham and Alton, being about five miles southwest of Farnham and six miles northeast of Alton, Winchester is 22 miles and London 42 miles. The founder of the Scout Movement, Robert Baden-Powell, lived in Bentley at Pax Hill from 1918 to 1938. During World War 2 Pax Hill was occupied by Canadian military troops. After the war it was given to the Girl Guides Association and used as a centre for members from the Commonwealth of Nations. It is currently a nursing and residential home but still retains links to the scouting movement playing host to Hampshire Scouts Jamboree. Harold Sanderson, the owner of the White Star Line, learned of the sinking of the Titanic whilst at his home Jenkyn Place in Bentley. Bentley was the location of a Radio 4 and ITV Docu-Drama from the 1990s called The Village, which focused on local residents and their daily lives. This cache is the first of a small series of different types of cache in Bentley where we spent 12 years in the 1980’s/90’s, living and working and being a part of the village school community.

This first cache is a one stage multi, the information needed for the final stage can be found at the above co-ordinates at the Bentley Book to the left of the Hall.

To locate the cache find the answer to the following on the Bentley Book:-
