The municipal and national governments in Chile are making great efforts to stimulate urban renewal. Part of this effort is going into renewing the Mapocho river and some of its adjoining parks. Parque Forestal is a long established park on the north side of the city center, facing the river. Heading east gives you Parque Uruguay all at the north end of Providencia and then into Vitacura, Parque Bicentenario. Going west, however, is where the current focus is. Beyond the Estacion Mapocho (the former railway station, a beatiful building), it is now possible to walk or cycle through lovely parkland. The first part immediately west of Estacion Mapocho is still undergoing renovations, but the newest kid in town is Parque Fluvial Padre Renato Poblete: A very designed park which (at least in this season) is covered in flowers, as is clearly visible from the highway between the airport and the city.
Today, we placed a cache here because it is a great park and there are practically no caches on the west side of town. So, grab your bike or your boots and head out to come and see this park. The cache is outside the actual new park, which is closed down at nigh. I would not recommend visiting this cache after dark, however, because there are no guarantees when it comes to safety.

El gobierno nacional y los gobiernos municipales hacen sus esfuerzas para estimular la renovación urbana. Como parte de este esfuerzas, el río Mapocho está en reconstrucción, y varios parque nuevos están introducidos en la ciudad. El Parque Forestal, en el centro, ya existe hace mucho tiempo obviamante, y por el lado oriente, hay Parque Uruguay en Providencia y después en Vitacura, hay el Parque Bicentenario. Al lado poniente, están construyendo más ahora. Desde el estación Mapocho (el viejo estación de trenes: un edificio muy impresionante), hay la posibilidad de ir en pie o en bici en la zona. El primer parte está todavía en construcción y tengo confianza que va a mejorar aún. Pero la estrella del poniente es el nuevo Parque Fluvial Padre Renato Poblete: un parque muy diseñado que (en este temporada) tiene muchos flores, como se puede ver también desde la carratera entre la ciudad y el aeropuerto.
Hoy, pusimos un cache aquí porque es un parque hermoso, y hay muy pocos caches por el lado poniente desde el centro. Entonces, tomen sus botes o su bici y vayan al parque. El cache está ubicado afuera del parque nuevo, que cierra durante la noche. No es recomendable ir por la noche de todas maneras, porque no estoy seguro sobre el nivel de seguridad. Que disfruten!
