Prairie Ridge Cemetery is located 5 miles west and 1/2 mile north of Dexter, Kansas. It is in the Liberty Township.
This cemetery was once known as the Red Valley Cemetery.
One interesting grave marker is of John A Cochran. At the age of 25 he enlisted in the Union Army on August 11, 1862. He became a member of Company F 116th Regiment. He rose in ranks while in the army to first lieutenant. His regiment was attached to the 1st Brigade of the 2nd Division of the 15th Army Corps. His first battle was at Chick-asaw Bayou. He also participated in the famous battle of "Sherman's March to the Sea".
