Barrio Italia (the Italia Neighborhood) is an area just outside the city center, between the municipalities of Ñuñoa and Providencia. It used to be a workers' area that was also home to a lot of immigrants, especially from Italy (hence the name). More recently, the neighborhood has been completely transformed and it now consists of many little shops with independent artists, furniture makers, shops that sell nicknacks, little bars and coffee places and many great restaurants. Especially in the weekend, the area is packed with families that are enjoying their strolls around the area and the wonderful shopping. If you want to buy something truly unique, Barrio Italia is the place to go.
The main area of interest is on Avenida Italia, south of Francisco Bilbao. The nearest metro stop is Santa Isabel, but one can also easily walk there from the city center.
The cache is a straightforward nano. Easy to find, but watch out for the muggles!

El Barrio Italia es una zona un poco afuera del centro de la ciudad, compartido entre los municipalidades de Ñuñoa y Providencia. Antes era un barrio bien trabajador y una zona que recibía muchos imigrantes, especialmente de Italia. Más recién el barrio se convirtió totalmente y ahora consiste de tiendas preciosas, con artistas independientes, pequeñas fabricas de muebles, bars y cafes y muchos restaurantes buenos. Durante el fin de semana, especialmente, el barrio está lleno de familias disfrutando la zona y sus tiendas marevillosas. Si se quiere comprar algu original, hay que ir a Barrio Italia.
La zona principal queda en la Avenida Italia, al sur de la Avenida Francisco Bilbao. El estación de metro más cerca es Santa Isabel, pero se puede caminar facilmente y seguramente desde el centro de Santiago también.
El cache es bien facil: es un nano. Pero lo más importante es tener mucho caución con los muggles!!!
