Along Puritan Road in Portage Township, across from the Martindale Reservoir is a small spring where you can get some of the clearest, most refreshing water in the area - for free! When I was little, I would help my dad load up old gallon milk jugs to take here to fill up for our drinking water for the week. Depending on recent rains, the spring can be just a trickle or a gushing stream. There's a small pull-off from the road, and the spring and cache are just a few hundred feet back the trail.
