Almost everyone remembers the classic SNL skit with Chris Farley playing the hyped-up motivational speaker and that classic line, “Living in a van down by the river!” That’s where I took my inspiration and that’s the name of this geocache.
The cache is placed down by Naperville’s Riverwalk. The Riverwalk is known as a place of beauty and tranquility along the West Branch of the DuPage River. It features miles of brick paths, fountains, bridges, outdoor sculpture, artwork and recreational facilities. You might be saying, “We-e-e-elll.. la-de-freakin’-da!” Why don’t I just shut my yapper? You’re eager to go out and make the find! You think you’ve got the geocaching world by the tail.
You say, "This one is going to be easy"--
- GZ. Check.
- Found it. Check.
- Sign the log. Check.
- Leave some swag. Check.
- Another successful hunt. Check.
- Put his one in the record book. Check.
Well, I'm here to tell you that you're probably gonna find out, as you go out there, that’s not the way it’s going to go down. The truth is, you’re gonna struggle. You may not be successful (DNF). You might end up feeling your good geocaching days are behind you. You’ll be thinking I’m never gonna amount to Jack Squat! I’m gonna end up eating a steady diet of government cheese, and living in a van down by the river!
I know what you’re saying, “I don’t give a rat's behind, 'cause I'm going out there anyway! I'm sick and tired of DNF and I ain’t afraid…I ain’t gonna end up living in a van down by the river!
