This is part of a growing number of caches near local interesting things around Rossendale. It can be done in 5 or 10 minutes if you park on either the top or bottom Whitaker park car parks but I would highly recommend a visit to the museum which is free of charge.
The cache is a small plastic tub, a good size for travel bugs. Should also contain log & pen. It is hidden in the beautiful Whitaker Park in Rawtenstall. The park's museum was opened by The Mayor Alderman H W Trickett. Collections were acquired from a number of local sources, to create a museum of general interest. The first curator also the local librarian was a Mr Hargreaves Wilkinson, under his auspices the museum and its collection slowly started to develop. Initially on the first floor and in two rooms downstairs, display space was always at a premium. In the 1930s the displays did expand and the collections were slowly added too. Be sure to look for the famous shrunken head if you go to the museum!
