This the 2nd of my RIP series. This is the old Otis cemetery, the
town of Otis is now known as Yermo. Gen. Harrison Gray Otis was the
founder of the Los Angles Times and the town of Otis was not more
then a wagon yard. In 1905 Otis was renamed Yermo, which means
desert. There are just a few marker here.
The cache should be reached from the east over a fair dirt road.
4WD isn't necessary but high clearance is. If you stay on the main
road you can drive to the foot of the hill of the cemetery about
.11 miles from the cache. If you wish help in following the road, I
have included a waypoint by waypoint directions from the East from
the Minneola offramp in the clue. You can look down on I15 and the
waystation from the cache.
The original contents were: Log book, 2 #2 pencils, sports
whistle, bottle of water, deck or cards, Rand McNally Trip Maker
CD, ear plugs, slide whistle, and a small bottle of simple
green.
If it's dark when you go here it would be VERY wise to watch out
for this ditch (see logss for 8/4 & 8/9). PLEASE BE CAREFUL
AFTER DARK!!!! THIS CEMETERY NEEDS NO NEW RESIDENTS!!!!!!
Caution!! As with any desert Cache,
NEVER put your hands in or under any rocks or containers that you
can't see fully. Always turn over rocks with a stick before picking
them up. Things that like to bit and sting love to hide and wait
just for you!
