About the place

The tomb of Jason (read Yah-sohn) is a Hellenistic monument in Rehavia neighborhood. It was discovered during excavation work in 1956. The tomb is dated to 2nd century B.C, the period of second temple and the Maccabees. The tomb is topped by a pyramid, similar to that of Zechariah tomb, from the same era. The pyramid and the arc gate were reconstructed from the rocks found in the place. The tomb is located near the main road to the ancient port of Gaza (today Derech Gaza st.). This area was use as a necropolis - the town of deads, located outside the holy city, but near the main road, allowing easy access.

A few inscriptions and drawings were found in the place, in addition to several Israeli coins from 1st century BC. One inscription reveals the name of one of the people who were buried here: "Strong mourn to Jason son of Pah... bye. That you built a tomb for you and come, have a peace...so strong mourn will do for you the friends...". The name in this inscription was adopted as the monument name. Other inscription says in Greek: "Be happy, you the lives". A drawing of deer and palms were found there. Another drawing, near the inscription of Jason, shows ships, with a man standing on the big one. The drawing probably describes Jason, which was a rich merchant commanding a merchant navy. Other describe the drawing as a Pirate attacking other ships, leading to the speculation that Jason was a pirate.

How to arrive?
The tomb of Jason is located in Alfasi 10, Rehavia, Jerusalem. You can access it also from Ben Maimon 21. If you can't find a parking place, try in Rashba st. (parking fee is required on some hours, check signs). It is less than 10 minutes walking distance from Paris square.

The cache

The pirates treasure of Jason is hidden somewhere in the area of his tomb. In the times of Jason there were no GPS receivers. Even the compass was not invented yet (although the magnet was discovered a few centuries before). Treasure maps were uses for those days geocaching. At the starting location, you will find the Magical Wand of Jason. The given map is just a copy of the original one. This copy will lead you from the starting location to the original Jason's treasure map. You have to find those two objects in order to find the treasure location.
After you find both the map and the wand, hold the wand in your hand, direct it to the map and push on the red spot. Then, figure the treasure location.

The cache is a 520ml Lock&Lock box.
