This battle is a civil war of the Choshu Domain that occurred about 150 years ago from now, it is said that the beginning of the Meiji Restoration.
The cache is hidden near the Edou Battlefield Monument.

【大田・絵堂戦役 開戦の地】
奇兵隊と萩藩軍との最初の交戦の記念碑がここにあります。
※大田絵堂戦役とは…
今から約150年前に起こった長州藩の内乱であり、明治維新分け目の戦いであるといえます。
1865年正月6日、萩藩政府軍と諸隊が絵堂で戦争を開始し、政府軍が完全に敗退するまでの約10日間の戦争です
「絵堂」の他に「呑水」「川上」にも戦跡記念碑が残っています。
また、絵堂宿にあった「萩政府軍本陣跡の門」がこちらの地へ移転して建っています。
キャッシュは絵堂戦跡記念碑の近くに隠されています。
