Every once in a while I like to remember back to the early days of my geocaching. Back in 2005 the gold standard for a cache container was an ammo can . . . and most were hidden in one of three ways: under a pile of sticks, under a pile of rocks or in a large, dead stump.
A good day for me back then was a 15 cache day since GRCs and LPCs were just starting to come out and nearly every cache involved some sort of a hike on a hiking trail in some nature preserve or park. I vividly remember the arrival of the first nano in the Bangor area . . . and folks' lamenting about all of the GRCs scattered here and there for quick park and grabs.
Of course, I could be remembering this all wrong . . .
In any case, here's an "old school" geocache. An ammo can hidden in a traditional manner hidden along a hiking trail. The only thing that is perhaps not "old school" is that there are several other caches on this trail to add a little more geocaching enticement.
Please be sure to not tear up the area . . . tread lightly . . . and hide the cache as found as this cache is close to the trail.
--------- A special thank you to the Sebasticook Regional Land Trust who has allowed me to place several caches here at the Kanokolus Bog Preserve . . . I hope you enjoy the trails as much as I have.
