Geocache Description:

The Washington Monument in Baltimore was erected between 1815 and 1829, The material for this monument, which was the first erected by a municipality to George Washington, came from what was then known as the Taylor Scott quarries. The statue at the summit of the monument was quarried as a single piece weighing thirty six tons. This block was subsequently cut into three smaller blocks to form the statue.

This is the first of 2 historical markers for the quarry.
