Wellspring of water for Cama Beach visitors.
During the Cama resort days, 1934 to 1989, big wooden cylindrical storage tanks held water for the resort buildings. The old tanks were located up the hill from the buildings and were filled by pipes from springs along the bluff. The gravity-fed water system needed regular maintenance to function well. Resort owner Lee Risk hiked thousands of feet along steep bluffs to do the repairs needed to keep the filter in the little pool unclogged. The long water pipe that hugged the side of the cliff was in danger from landslides during rainy weather. Twisted and broken sections of the pipe lie at the foot of the cliff today, their usefulness replaced by a new modern water system.
