This is the start of a small trail, On the former railway sidings of the Wharncliffe Carlton main pits. See photo in the gallery. There is one railway line remaining, which delivers sand to the glass works. There is plenty of parking at N 53 34.591 W 001 26.311.
This is a short series consisting of Eleven caches the walk is around 2 miles and can be muddy at times depending on the weather, The area is used by dog walkers so stealth on all caches will be required , the area is also used by a local model aircraft club so keep your eyes open for some low flying aircraft? There are some areas where care will be needed due to some steep slopes so watch your children and pets but no caches are placed in these areas, There are plenty of open space to enjoy and to let your dogs run free for a while , A Pen is necessary and Tweezers will be required for some caches, There are no plastic tubs nor is there room for any swaps or Tb's in any of the caches, All the caches are not chosen but then again we did choose them so all caches are others.
