Nascoste tra le pendici del Monte Baldo che si affacciano sul lago, all’altezza di Garda e Torri, sono presenti vere e proprie lavagne naturali sulle quali, dalla preistoria ad oggi, gli uomini hanno lasciato incisi alcuni messaggi… alcuni ancora indecifrabili.
Si tratta di lastroni di pietra levigati dal ritiro dei ghiacciai nel 10.000 a.C. Cacciatori, pastori o con molta probabilità, truppe militari in transito, hanno immortalato su questi liscioni di roccia scene di battaglie, cavalieri, navi, oscuri segni, simboli religiosi o antichi giochi. Ancor oggi si può percorrere questo interessante itinerario alla scoperta dei segreti messaggi che nascondono le incisioni rupestri.
Le più antiche risalgono all’età del Bronzo, 1500 a.C. Le prime rocce incise furono scoperte nel 1964 nella zona di S. Vigilio, ma ben presto si intuì che tutta la sponda veronese del lago era interessata da questo fenomeno. Ad oggi, sono state catalogate più di 250 rocce e almeno 3.000 figure e se ne trovano sempre di nuove, anche nei territori di San Zeno, Costermano e Malcesine per una superficie totale di circa 40 kmq.
Spuntano qua e là figure umane stilizzate, uomini rappresentati con la testa direttamente legata alle gambe, il più delle volte però armati e sessuati: si tratta di guerrieri, alcuni anche a cavallo, come si può osservare nella Pietra dei Cavalieri: sul lastrone di roccia sono ritratti ben 12 cavalieri armati rivolti a sud.

In estate non è facile parcheggiare vicino ai sentieri che partono dalla strada provinciale per questo motivo suggeriamo di parcheggiare direttamente nel paese di Garda ed organizzarsi per un'intera giornata di passeggiata nella natura

Hidden between the slopes of Monte Baldo overlooking the lake, at Garda and Torri del Benaco, there are real natural slates on which, from prehistory to the present, men have left some messages engraved ... some still indecipherable.
It is slabs of stone smoothed by the retreat of glaciers in 10,000 BC Hunters, shepherds or probably, military troops in transit, immortalized on these smooth rock scenes of battles, knights, ships, obscure signs, religious symbols or ancient games. Even today you can take this exciting journey to discover the secret messages that hide the stone carvings.
The oldest date back to the Bronze Age, 1500 BC The first rock carvings were discovered in 1964 in the area of S. Vigilio, but soon realized that all the Verona side of the lake was affected by this phenomenon. Pop up throughout stylized human figures, men represented with the head directly tied to the legs, more often than not, however, armed and gendered: they are warriors, some on horseback, as can be seen in the Stone Knights: on the slab of rock 12 portraits are well-armed knights facing south.

In summer it is not easy to park close to the trails that depart from the main road for this reason we suggest to park directly in the town of Garda and organize themselves for a whole day to walk in nature
